UCAN Productions is a performance and creative arts charity for blind and partially sighted children, young people, adults and their friends.
“It’s nice to be around other visually impaired people, because I find it’s nice to be around people who you have a connection like that with, because you can just laugh about it – you don’t feel different.”

What an incredible year it has been! We are beyond honoured to have been the nominated charity for the Lord Mayor of Cardiff, Cllr Bablin Molik, for 2023/24. Our deepest gratitude goes out to the Lord Mayor for her unwavering generosity and passion for UCAN and our mission. Thank you to everyone who attended our events and helped us fundraise—your support means the world to us and will significantly impact our efforts to enhance the physical and vocal confidence of young blind and vision-impaired individuals.
UCAN recently hosted a celebratory event to honor the outstanding achievements of a group of vision-impaired primary and secondary pupils from Cardiff. These talented young individuals successfully completed their 'Explore' level Arts Awards, marking a significant milestone in their creative journeys.
UCAN is seeking a competent creative individual who enjoys a challenge and ideally possesses a knowledge of working within the VI Sector.
““I’ve had the experience of acting and recording through UCAN but it’s opened up so many more options. With the experience you have in UCAN you’re able to do anything you want to do. You don’t need to do UCAN just to do drama; you could come to UCAN and become a lawyer. Just because it’s given you that extra edge and that confidence to believe in what you want to do.””
“What amazes me is the amount of time we actually spend talking about our visual impairment to each other. It’s hardly ever mentioned – not because we don’t like to talk about it just because we don’t find it necessary to talk about it and we get on with each other as friends despite anything anyway that you are automatically in sync with one another because you have that impairment. You find it easy to get along because there’s someone there that understands you”
